Home Schooling Rights Under Attack in California

Does anything surprise me lately? For a while now, I have had a feeling that perhaps in the USA something like this would happen as more and more rights are taken away from American citizens. Although SO FAR it is only California to have home schooling rights come under threat, this will probably spread across the USA? And then what? Will it happen in the UK, as they seem to follow suit with what America does? One thing I know for sure, I will move anywhere to be able to raise my child myself if home schooling would ever be banned in the UK. However, this is not yet the end of the saga, and the ending could still be a happy one… I received a news letter from Home School Enrichment, homeschoolenrichment.com from which I take the following excerpt:

We have been watching the situation closely, and it appears that the danger may not be as great as many originally feared. We're not attorneys, but our understanding of the situation is that the status quo in California will likely be maintained for now. However, it does seem that homeschooling freedoms may be a little more shaky since this decision. We appreciate HSLDA's continued effort to protect and defend our right to homeschool across the country, and would encourage our readers to watch the HSLDA website for further developments (it couldn't hurt to SIGN THE PETITION , too, if you haven't already).

The following is taken from Western Voices World News website California Declares War on Homeschoolers : Homeschoolers are threatened with legal action and the confiscation of their children by the state if they do not comply with California’s educational policy. Is this really for the good of the children and to make sure they are getting a good education?

Justice H. Walter Croskey stated "A primary purpose of the educational system is to train school children in good citizenship, patriotism and loyalty to the state and the nation as a means of protecting the public welfare."

In other words, a primary purpose of the educational system is to disseminate state-sponsored propaganda.

He sums it up nicely yet bluntly - “Is it merely coincidental that homeschooling was outlawed by the Soviet State in 1919, by Hitler and Nazi Germany in 1938 and by Communist China in 1949? Will California be next? America? Will we yield control and our educational rights as parents? Such would not only be an American travesty but a human disgrace”.
