By Ina Woolcott
Breastfeeding is of course ALWAYS the best, but some women cant, or opt not to breastfeed their little babies. Babies can suffer reflux whetjer breast or formula fed. Reflux can result in tummy ache, painful crying and arched backs in babies. Some tips so yoru baby doesn’t suffer reflux as severely and to make them feel better
* Slow down, don’t rush your baby when it comes to eating - at ANY age…
* Let baby have little breaks and have enough time to ‘eat’. This may mean you feed for a shorter time, but more frequently so your baby can digest some of the food
* Don’t overfeed
* Don’t force your baby to eat too much, if they seem full stop! Rememebr they have tiny tummies!
* Overfeeding may cause a back up of gas leading to painful reflux before the food is properly digested.
* Loose clothing is best for baby, tight clothes canm make reflux sympomts more severe
* Change babies nappy before feeding and leave it a bit loose, allowing room for expansion. Check after feeding to ensure not too tight.
