Educating your Children Yourself is Only Natural

By Ina Woolcott

Children learn best about their environment and the world through first hand experience. No parent - although there may be exceptions???- would tell their young child to stop playing with sand/mud/insects etc and instead look at a picture book of these things. Homeschooled kids learn directly about the world around them -learning by doing instead of being told.

One of the most common oppositions against homeschooling is that children are being deprived of the real world! Children require and deserve PLENTY of time with their family. Children being home schooled obviously have the added benefit of spending A LOT more time with their families than kids who attend a public, or even private, school. Traditional family life is systematically being destroyed by all the time spent at school, watching TV and the activities kids participate in in-between. A large amount of home schooling families feel that home schooling keeps the family bonds strong and that they are a proper unit. Parents go through all stages of their babies lives until they reach school age. When kids are homeschooled, parents have the added benefit of experiencing all stages of the years they would have missed out on if their child went to public school. They can actively participate in their child’s learning and continue to raise their own offspring, which in my eyes should be any responsible parents right if they so wish! What an honour! How natural!
