One of the subjects that must be taught in the United Kingdom when you home school is English. Over the course of your child’s education there will be many things that are covered in the subject of English. Here are some of the topics that will be taught to your child in the course of their education.

Teaching English for children under the age of eleven is English for beginners. They will be taught, reading, phonics, handwriting, creative writing and spelling and grammar. Each of these topics has a specific goal in mind when being taught. A child must learn to read for obvious reasons, they teach pronunciation as well, so the child can learn to read correctly. Handwriting is taught again for obvious reasons but you want to teach your child the correct way to write letters and in both script and freehand.

Spelling and Grammar are important because you want your child to learn how to put a proper sentence together. They will learn nouns, verbs, Adjectives and adverbs. Creative writing will help them express themselves better through words. It is a great tool to be taught at any age. As the child gets older they will learn vocabulary, structured writing and reading comprehension so when a child reads something they will under stand what they are reading. All of these skills can be used later in life as well.
